The Keith Moon Movie Petition

June 25, 2018 at 7:40 am , by Bryan

Keith Moon is a legend. Every drummer worth his salt knows this. He had a style and talent that is unique and all his own. There have been many great drummers both before and after Keith, but besides being great, he was the drummer for The Who. ┬áThat alone would be enough to warrant a movie about his life. But Keith’s story is so much bigger than even that. Everyone who knew him speaks with such reverence about his extremes. He was very funny, spontaneous, frustrating and juvenile, and an overall extremist. He lived such a full life despite the fact that it was cut short at the age of 32.

That is why when I heard that Roger Daltrey was producing a biopic of Keith’s life I was incredibly excited. This is a project that should have been made years ago. I had my hopes set very high for this movie. I feel that if anyone can put together a high quality, true portrayal of Keith’s life, it would be Roger. And Mike Myers was to play Keith! It was going to be perfect!

Unfortunately, I just read that this project has recently stalled. Why oh why!?!? Well I just feel that this is unacceptable! I cannot sit on my hands and do nothing when the best opportunity for such an important film goes belly up. With this in mind, I have created a petition to send to the film’s production team to let them know that, we the people will not be denied this valuable historical production. I ask you to please take a moment to sign the petition to get this project back on track. If they see enough names, perhaps it will help find the needed reserves to get this thing back on track.

I maintain Keith Moon’s account at The majority of fans do NOT want this movie made with Mike Myers in the lead role. Myers is too old. Jason Schwartzmann is a dead ringer for Moon, a terrific actor and a decent drummer to boot.

I agree that Myers is a bit old for the part but he has held up pretty well and might still pull it off. However, if the movie was made with Jason Schwartzmann, I would not be protesting that call. In fact, I have actually been thinking I might blog about it.

Please make this happen Roger… we all saw on the the 2012 – 2013 Quadrophenia Tour how you and The Who paid a wonderful tribute to both John and Keith… very touching… even after seeing it on back to back nights in NY and NJ. If they can make Rock n Roll movies about Morrison and others… there certainly has to be one made about The Original Rock n Roll personality. To quote Roger… “Keith made the music come ALIVE !” Let’s bring him back!

I’m a drummer who starting to learn at age 15, I started playing because of a video I saw of Keith and decided that I wanted to be like that. I started late (actually the same age as Keith about) but I still plan to go to a university for music and be a professional musician. Please get this movie out because I believe that even now nearly 35 years after his death, Keith’s life is a story that will inspire people.

We are big fans and would love to see that film! I love Michael Meyers- and remember fabulous comedians kick but in drama – we just do not often get to see that… With makeup today I can’t see why Meyers could not pull it off with the experts out there…
Nonetheless Please make the film and get it out to us!

If there is a person who had a more interesting life than Keith Moon, I would sure like to see it. The movie will be made. I just hope I live long enough to see it.

I had the privilege of meeting The Who, and seeing them live countless times way back, when they first started. Keith was often ill with whooping cough, so we would ring him, at his parents house, to wish him well.
He was the best drummer ever, especially live, on one will ever beat him. Mike Myers does not look anything like Keith; Keith was extremely good-looking when he was around 17 – 25, until the alcohol and drugs took their toll. Roger was not a nice person to meet; John, Keith, and Pete were all really nice guys to meet. Roger told me at the age of 14 to “f*** off”,and I have never forgotten that, or forgiven his vile attitude. He would stall any movie on the fantastic, legendary, truly talented Keith, as his ego probably interferes with his judgement.

About Me

I am just one person who also happens to be a huge Who fan. The legendary Keith Moon has always been a fascinating figure for me. When I heard that there might be a movie about Keith produced by none other than Roger Daltrey, I had to build this site to unleash my enthusiasm.
