Jeremy Piven As Keith Moon?
August 30, 2011 at 8:49 am , by Bryan
Just a quick bit of news today…
The star of HBO’s ‘Entourage,’ Jeremy Piven announced to Fox News that he is interested in portraying Keith Moon some time in the future. Interesting news. Perhaps this is a calculated statement to throw his name into the mix? It seems to me that he has the same problem as Mike Myers. He is 46 years old and Keith died at 33.
This news just missed what would have been Moon’s 65th birthday on Aug 23. Well, we will just have to see what happens. I will keep you posted.

Piven is a fine actor and deserves a lot of attention. However, Moon as a character commands a youthful and perhaps unknown actor. We love Keith because we never understood him when he was alive and only in his death have we defined him.

Well I did hear Pete say once that Keith started talking like some upper class person, “Can you pass me over the bottle? Thank You My Kind Sir”
Like the Hotel Lobby, I can imagine they way he said, “This My Good Man Is The Who”. Speaking like a higher class type English Gentleman from the early 19th Century sort of way.
It could be quite easy to find some Shakespearian actor to talk a lot like that and act a fool too I guess.
But, I have faith Roger will chose a better actor then Myers and possibly not this Piven neither.

To send up those who didn’t know him, Moon would borrow the posh accent of Kit Lambert, one of the band’s managers. He was particularly fond of pulling this stunt on interviewers.
He was so good at it that a lot of people assumed he was upper class — very amusing to Moonie and those who knew the truth.
And I agree that Piven, though quite energetic and a fine actor, is too old to play Moon.

Kinda late to comment but anyway…
I don’t think it’s a big problem, in fact, it would even be nice, because, since this actor is older than Moon when he died, he can portrait the final years properly… I mean, I don’t know if he’s a good actor…
It’s like that guy from “House”, the one who was Dr. Chase. Everytime I think of a person to portrair John, I think about him…

Also a little late on the comments, however I think a very good candidate to play Keith Moon is Jim Sturgess. Jim played Jude in the 2007 Beatles film Across the universe. He is a gifted musician already and has the dark black messy hair and look of Mr. Moon. He also is from England so he has the accent .
